From July 6Th to July 28/29Th, I will be flying back over to Italy to study Art, history and the Italian language and culture. An no, I'm not going because of Assassins Creed 2, so kick that idea to the curb.
This program is offered to any student in Ontario aged 13-19, and costs about $5,000.
I'm super excited about going back! Especially if I get to earn a few credits out of it too. Studying in another country looks damn good on a college/university application.
So I thought I'd post the itinerary for the trip, just for my watchers to see where I'm going, and for any Ontarian students who might be interested.
On July 7Th,(MAI BIRFDAY) We'll arrive in Rome. I've already toured the majority of Rome, so this will be a recap and a pleasant reminder to me. If anything, while in Rome I look forward to standing inside the Sistine Chapel and St Peters Basilica again, possibly the most beautiful and mysterious places I have ever visited. To see Michelangelo's paintings(and signature!!!) on the roof of the Sistine Chapel and to study the symbolic "Last Judgement" in person is an experience I will never forget, and will gladly revisit anytime I can.
We leave Rome on the 10Th and travel to Ortona. There we will begin our formal classes, and HIT THE BEACH! WOO!
On the 13Th we head for our base, Chieti, a small but rich in history town. Apparently it's a town that's easy to fall in love with, so I'm ecstatic to unravel the mystery of what making this village so lovable.
On the 19Th we leave Chieti and Head to Roccaraso, a mountain resort. Last time I was in Italy, I was very interested in the mountains. Since I am from Ontario, I had never seen a mountain before, so that was very exciting for me. I had no idea Italy was so mountainous. Going back to them is another highlight for me.
On the way to Roccaraso, we will visit the infamous Pompeii! Surely, most of you have heard of Pompeii, but for those who may not, Pompeii is the city that was completely obliterated by a massive volcano and buried under 60ft of ash. In the late 1700's it was unearthed, revealing several intact buildings as well as bodies. A very cool sight to see I imagine.
Next, on the 23Th, we head to the Almighty Florence! There we will be staying at the Leonardo Da Vinci hotel. (Fangirl Attack)
I seriously cannot wait to set foot in Florence. There will be Fangirling. We will be having a full city tour and visitations with the Duomo, Vecchio palazzo and San Lorenzo, to name a few.
Unfortunately, we leave on the 25Th, I'd hope we'd stay longer, but the show must go on.
Next we make a side stop in Pisa to see the leaning tower. It's the only thing to really see there, so we will only spend an hour or two until we get to...
VENICE! asdfghjkl;'
The floating city!I will be sure to take a Gondola ride in my free time. One of the places I remember we will visit is the Ponte Rialto (If I can remember the other places we go to, I will update, but I can only remember Rialto right now.)
We only spend one day in Venice, which is a shame. However, the tour directors are trying to extend the trip for a day so that we can stay in Venice for 2 days, I hope they can! Other than that setback, we will still get a full city tour, ( which means tons of walking. <3)
This is also the day we write our exams. I'm wondering how this is going to work out
On the 27th we visit Verona.
And on the 28th, we Fly from Venice, to Rome and then to Toronto. ( Unless we can get that extra day!!Pray for it!)
But that's not all!!!
On one of our side trips we visit Sulmona. Now as any George Clooney fan knows, he is/ will be shooting a film there. The tour Directors are trying to arrange a meet and greet with him!! So If we're lucky, I'll get to meet George Clooney!!!(MOAR FANGIRLING) The tour directors try to allow students to meet with famous people every year they do the trip. Last year the students met Steven Harper, the prime minister of Canada. No offense to Steven though, I'd rather meet Clooney.
I.CAN'T.WAIT.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Thats the Trip.
The only place I have visited before is Rome. When I was in Rome before, we explored most of southern Italy, from Rome to Naples with a few side trip in between. Now I'm heading north! All the rest in a new adventure. It's crazy, by the time I'm 17 I will have traveled all of Italy, Sicily and half of Greece.
I know what some people may be thinking. Your crazy! Why not save your money for College and University, a car, a house etc.
A wise woman once told me, "Travel when you're young and rich, for you never know what the future holds."
It's a scary thought, and I was talking with my friend at Karate about this. My childhood is almost at an end, it's almost frightening how fast it went, the things I wish I did back then. My care free life is turning into a life controlled by work schedules and study. I want to live this freedom while I can, I want to go to my very limits. I want to explore every corner while I still have time. Time that's quickly running out.
So hear are my words.
Live your life to the fullest, because before you know it, your chance to truely live and be free is gone. It's only a matter of years before you are surpressed and pushed into the mainstream society.
IN OTHER NEWS. I've been extremely busy as of late. It snowed another 10cm today, and buses we canceled (Yay!) My family's christmas party is tommorow, and I spent all day helping my Grandmother bake pies and tarts, as well as set up for the party. We're expecting atleast 40 people, (My family is huge btw) weather permitting.
I've also been ladened with homework and culminatings.*Angst*
Oh and a small note to
Ciao!

For shame, Mandi.
Of course I saw it! And to answer your question: Yes Giovanni was an Assassin, and he was trained Federico (Ezio's older brother) to become an assassin too. Eventually he would've introduced Ezio to the lifestyle when he was a bit older.
I agree, t'was very awesome, though I was a bit disappointed with the end, which involved a 3000m dangle off a cliff. But I suppose it had to be done, they're wetting our appetites.
